In the course of my work as a visibility strategist, I have met countless entrepreneurs and experts whose stories and expertise would interest the media, but they become their own obstacles as a result of some limiting mind-sets they allow to rule them.

MINDSET 1

I NO DEY GOOD ENOUGH

Most talented people have had to battle this fear. As much as I believe in personal development and sharpening your skills, however there will never be a time when you will suddenly know it all and won’t need to learn anything again. The experts you see on your favourite TV shows, blogs, newspapers and magazines just decided to endorse themselves. They approved themselves and decided not to look for validation in the wrong places.

MINDSET 2

I AM NOT READY

Gaining visibility is the first place is about stepping into the spotlight and deciding to add value to others through your expertise and business. There will never be a perfect time when you would be ready to put your brand in the spotlight. You will always feel there is something you need to have , there is a skill you  still need to acquire in order to put your skills in the spotlight. It is an illusion.

Years ago, when I started writing for magazines and appearing on TV shows , I didn’t even own a laptop. As much I encourage being prepared for your opportunity, you don’t always have to keep preparing till an opportunity passes you by.

MINDSET 3

NOBODY SABI ME

In her book ‘Knowledge is the new gold’ @Stephobi said:”The people who you know as experts are the people who have positioned themselves as experts.

The reason nobody knows you yet is because  you are yet to do things that will make you known. It’s that simple.

Imagine consistently creating irresistible content around your expertise, doing live videos, granting interviews, writing articles for media paltforms, starting your own YouTube channel and podcast, all these will help in increasing your visibility.

“Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life”
