Top news platforms you should be paying attention to

The news media’s transition to digital has brought major changes to the industry – including a multitude of new providers and ways to get to news. In Nigeria, there are news platforms who have upped their games and have become epitome of credibility. We take a look at them in no particular order.

 

  1. Vanguard

 

Vanguard News is a daily news publication in Nigeria covering the latest news, breaking news, politics, relationships, entertainment, and sports. Vanguard is one of the top Newspapers in Nigeria today. It has developed a rich reputation as the incisive, entertaining and authoritative.

As at the time of filing the report, they have 3.1 million followers on Facebook and 456,000 followers on Instagram. The platform posts more than fifty stories daily.

On November 1, 1976, the daily tabloid, THE PUNCH, was born. Designed as “the lively paper for lively minds”, it was to address most of the shortcomings and inadequacies of the established Nigerian newspapers and to be “swingingly elegant as well as socially concerned and seriously responsible.” Its pioneer editor was Dayo Wright.

The Punch shares over fifty news content daily. The news platform has 1m followers on Instagram as at this moment and over 2 million followers on Facebook.
